b'G L S D G L S DMVES Wellness Walk 2022Mountain View Elementary Students recently participated in their annual Wellness Walk for Education organized by the PTO. The walk took place throughout the scenic East High Acres neighborhood with stops along the way featuring guest speakers and stations. Scott Brown from the Greensburg YMCA taught the students soccer drills, Rebecca Pich from GoodFit led the classes through a fun aerobic workout, and Sara Horner from TC Tae Kwon Do taught them self-defense moves!Dr. Courtney Floyd and residents from Excela Health led a germ station showing the importance of proper handwashing.They also showed the students how their heart rates increased with exercise through a special stethoscope.After their walk, the classes enjoyed a healthy snack and a talk on healthy eating from health coach Sarah Breisinger of MoveBreatheWell.Thanks to the efforts of individual student fundraising and generous sponsor donations, the event brought in over $34,000 to fund class field trips, assemblies, yearbooks, and other educational opportunities for the students of Mountain View.GREATER LATROBE HOSTS MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERGreater Latrobe Junior and Senior High Schools recently hosted Pittsburgh Pirates In-Game Host and Professional Motivational Speaker, Joe Klimchak, to share his inspirational story of how an ordinary kid with a speech impairment landed his dream job as an announcer in a Major League Baseball ballpark. Through relatable examples, Joe gives hope to teens whove lost sight of their goals or stopped dreaming altogether.His message keeps students engaged and empowers them to spend more time taking small action steps toward getting better at a skill and less time comparing themselves to others. Joes core belief is that we experience extraordinary by embracing ordinary.
